"THE MODULAR TRIANGULAR SYSTEM" BOOK
In this book, the western ideal of art as a view, to be seen through a four-cornered window, is perceived as being specific to certain cultures. The artist illustrates how the three principal influences of the Caribbean, namely: the Pre-Columbian, the European and African can be combined to form an alternative path towards art: one that widens human perception and experience of what a painting can also be. Thus "THE MODULAR TRIANGULAR SYSTEM" positions itself as a complement, rather than a competitor, to the traditional concept of the rectangular frame. This bilingual book (English & Spanish) reveals the basis for these canvas supports, not only from a theoretical standpoint, but with concrete illustrations (25 different shapes) in terms of physical dimensions and inherent capabilities. And a total of almost fifty diverse shapes are listed in "Shapes and measures", each with its own characteristic and size. These diverse combinations help to demonstrate the power and flexibility of the Triangle at the dawn of the Third Millenium.
It is a handsomely-bound publication by any standard. The MTS book features a glossy black-finish cover with pop up illustration, thirty sparkling color reproductions ( with artist's commentary) executed in a seldom-seen Atlak finish in art books, plus a rare interview with the artist/theorist by well-known Latin American art critic, Marianne de Tolentino of Sorbonne, Paris, distinction. The book has 129 pages and is printed in Denmark by Orla W, Graphics House.
This singular art book with its quality production, design concepts and presentation, delivers a new art theory to the Art Forum.
A "collector's item" for scholars, fellow artists, art students, school teachers, collectors and others who are keenly-interested in keeping abreast with current and alternative art theory & practice that exists away from The Center. An ideal gift for those interested in Caribbean art & culture, it is now available for online purchase.

MTS Innovation
"The Modular Triangular System" way of painting uses innovation in a shape category to create triangular-based formats. Its theory basically says that the triangle, too, can offer some startling new approaches for easel painting. Click on our icons and see what some of these exciting new shapes look like. There is an extensive vocabulary of shapes that can be created this way---shapes which depart from western traditions in art. At times these shapes evoke subjects in nature, others recall other cultures and even lost civilizations. Some are extremely sculptural in their overall design, even others incorporate ready-made objects or technological elements.
